El Al Completes Strategic Project with Commvault Cloud to Protect Office 365 Data
El Al Airlines has completed the implementation of the Commvault Cloud platform powered by Metallic AI, designed for data protection, backup, recovery, and ransomware defense. The project currently secures the company’s global Office 365 environment that serves around 5,000 users.
The system protects and backs up Office 365 applications, including Outlook, calendars, contacts, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and more. The project was carried out in collaboration with El Al’s Infrastructure and Information Security Division.
Azure Integration Under Consideration
El Al is in the process of migrating many systems to the cloud and adopting SaaS-based solutions. The airline is now evaluating Commvault Cloud for the protection of its Azure-based applications and data, which include file storage, its website, and other systems.
“El Al is transitioning many of its systems to SaaS models, and that’s why we chose Commvault Cloud to protect Office 365, as well as other SaaS apps in the near future,” said Hen Amram, Head of Infrastructure and Information Security at El Al.
According to Amram, Commvault Cloud was selected after a thorough evaluation of market solutions and was found to best meet El Al’s requirements:
- Ease of use
- Short backup windows
- Fast recovery
- High availability
- Advanced cybersecurity capabilities
- Effective ransomware protection
He emphasized:
“Commvault Cloud is provided as a SaaS solution, which aligns perfectly with our cloud strategy. El Al operates with thousands of employees in diverse roles at dozens of locations around the world, and our goal is to enable secure work from anywhere at any time. Commvault enables exactly that — with a solution that puts cyber defense first.”
Microsoft and We-Ankor’s Role
Lea Rosen, Software Partner Manager at Microsoft MEA, noted:
“El Al has selected Microsoft Azure as its primary platform for data storage and application operations, and we are proud of that. The partnership between Commvault and Microsoft — where Commvault Cloud backs up to Microsoft’s cloud — is a great example of joint strength in data protection and cybersecurity. It’s a win-win.”
Noga Sahar, Sales Director for Industry and Hi-Tech at Commvault Israel, added:
“We are proud that El Al chose Commvault Cloud — the most advanced data protection and backup solution for the cloud era. Powered by Metallic AI, our platform offers robust, resilient, and reliable cyber protection. It’s a true ‘set-it-and-forget-it’ solution that constantly works in the background, delivering results, with a user-friendly interface and unique anti-ransomware capabilities.”
We-Ankor: Fast and Effective Implementation
Dafna Aharonion, Customer Success Manager at We-Ankor, concluded:
“Contrary to common belief, SaaS applications often don’t come with built-in backup or advanced protection. El Al chose the most advanced solution on the market for SaaS application protection — a cloud-based platform offering scalability, stability, ease of use, and high performance. The implementation with Commvault was quick and simple for us.”
