Carrefour Implements Commvault Cloud SaaS Data Protection Solution for Office 365 with We-Ankor
Carrefour has completed a project, in collaboration with We-Ankor, to implement a data protection, backup, and disaster recovery solution for its Office 365 applications. The solution is based on Commvault Cloud SaaS, which is part of the Commvault Cloud Cyber Resilience Platform.
Commvault Cloud SaaS provides data protection, backup, and restore for Office 365 applications, including email, Exchange, calendars, contacts, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and more. These applications serve approximately 800 users across the Carrefour Israel network. The project is estimated at several hundred thousand shekels.
Globally, Carrefour operates around 14,000 stores in approximately 50 countries. Carrefour Israel, owned by Electra Consumer Products, is currently marking its second anniversary in the country, having opened 144 branches nationwide. It plans to open three more branches in the coming month.
Carrefour chose Commvault after previously implementing its data protection, backup, and disaster recovery solution for the company’s on-premises data center—supporting both the headquarters and stores. This infrastructure includes 100 virtual servers and a central ERP system, with disaster recovery to a remote site.
“A Strategic Step in Migrating Servers to the Cloud”
Yevgeny Kotkovnik, Carrefour Israel’s CIO, stated:
“Migrating to Commvault-based backup and data management is a strategic step in Carrefour’s journey to move its servers to the cloud. Thanks to the system’s advanced capabilities, we’re able to unify interfaces between operational systems and POS systems—while ensuring data resilience, regulatory compliance, and high availability across all branches.”
Yaniv Habib, Carrefour’s System and Information Security Manager, added:
“Once we migrated to Office 365, we realized the need for a robust backup and data protection system. After conducting a market survey, we chose Commvault’s cloud application protection solution, which backs up data to the cloud.
Commvault Cloud SaaS offers simple operation and management, high performance reflected in fast backup cycles, and extremely quick recovery capabilities. Cloud-based backup also saves significant local data center storage space. In addition, we benefit from Commvault’s strong capabilities in protecting data against cyberattacks, especially ransomware—thanks to features like immutable backups and protection against unauthorized file changes.”
“We’ve worked with Commvault’s backup and data protection systems for several years and are well familiar with their powerful capabilities. When selecting a cyber resilience platform for Office 365, we found Commvault to offer the best solution—supported by We-Ankor’s professional recommendation and years of partnership,” Habib added.
He also noted that Carrefour is currently in the process of migrating its data center to Oracle Cloud, and is evaluating the deployment of Commvault Cloud-based backup for this new environment.
Roni Ozer, Client Manager at We-Ankor, commented:
“After years of working with Commvault systems to protect Carrefour’s data center, the company chose Commvault Cloud SaaS to protect its Office 365 environment. This provides both business continuity and data protection, with an attractive pricing model.”
Gil Meiri, Pre-Sales Engineer at We-Ankor, added:
“Commvault Cloud SaaS ensures comprehensive data protection against attacks, along with fast backup and recovery capabilities. It offers an ideal combination of high performance, fast restore times, broad SaaS application support, and scalability for future growth.”
Eitan Maaravi, Systems Engineer at Commvault Israel, concluded:
“We are pleased that Carrefour continues to place its trust in Commvault to protect its workplace data environments—now and in the future. Commvault Cloud is the most robust, resilient, and reliable platform for data backup and cyber resilience. We’re glad that Cloud SaaS is now protecting the company’s cloud applications and will support them as they continue their cloud migration journey.”
